Usage
The software is just a graphic interface to the FICS server.
All abilities of the software are based on those of the FICS server and the information the server provides. Most commands of the server are implemented as menu items. Simply select the menu item to activate the command. For those commands which are not implemented, use the
RAW button. Once you push the RAW button, you can enter a command which will go directly to the server. The server commands can be found on the FICS website.
Your usernames and passwords for the chess servers are stored unencrypted in ChessOne.properties.
Most tabulated lists may be sorted by clicking on the titles of the columns, and shift-clicking for reverse sorting.
Most lists of games may be observed or examined by double clicking on the game item in the list.
The sought games graph shows the game information at the bottom of the graph upon selection of a game icon. Double click the game information to play
that seek request.
Right click the channel panel in the main chat window to add and remove channels from it. You may also create a channel chat window by right clicking as
well. Text will only appear in a single window.
Notes
The client will change some of your server variables and not change them back when it loggs off!
This should not be a problem for other interface users as the interface likely sets the variables it needs. However, if you are a telnet user, you may find the need to manually reset your variables. Specifically the interface will change
prompt, height, width, interface name, style12, simopen, highlight and flip.
This program will create 1 file, "ChessOne.properties", in your home directory
For windows users, the windows option “Show window contents while dragging” performs very slowly with Java.
